Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD)

Duchenne muscular dystrophy mainly affects males, and in rare cases may also affect females. Duchenne is the most common childhood form of muscular dystrophy, affecting about 1 in 3,500 to 5,000 boys born worldwide each year. This rare genetic condition causes both muscle damage and weakness that get worse over time.
